After replacing Barcelona at the top of the LaLiga standings, can Real Madrid continue its winning career in the league? Real Madrid welcomes Mallorca to 18th place in their next LaLiga match

Real Madrid regained first place in the LaLiga standings after another convincing victory over Real Sociedad. A 2-1 win over La Real in their first away game since the shutdown meant they had three wins in a row, but can they score four when they host RCD Mallorca on Wednesday?
The Whites have been off to a rocky start since LaLiga resumed and have scored eight goals in three games, with striker Karim Benzema in top form.

RCD Mallorca, on the other hand, has experienced completely different fortunes. They tested two losses in their first two games and tied their last game against Leganes, in which they also scored their first goal since returning to action.

On paper, it seems like a fairly straightforward affair for Madrid, but we must not forget that Los Bermellones are one of only three teams to have recorded a victory against the leaders this season.

That said, this is what we can expect from the game when the league’s top spot takes on the 18th-ranked club on Wednesday.

History of Real Madrid vs RCD Mallorca:
The two sides have met in league games 57 times, and Real Madrid have been victorious 36 times. Mallorca won 10 games, while 11 ended in a draw.
In October last year, the parties met for the first time in six years and Mallorca managed to upset the LaLiga giants when the game ended in a 1-0 victory for Vicente Moreno’s men. It was the first victory for the Balearic islanders over Madrid in more than 10 years and that victory also ended Los Blancos’ unbeaten streak of eight games.

News from the Real Madrid and RCD Mallorca team:
Real Madrid:
One of the biggest headaches for Zinedine Zidane for the next game is the aptitude of captain Sergio Ramos, who scored his 68th goal in LaLiga in his 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad. He was hit in the knee and had to be removed in the 60th minute, soon after successfully converting a penalty from the point.

Zidane has claimed that the defender’s injury is not serious and just one hit, but with a tight schedule and the LaLiga title to play, he is expected to rest for the game against Mallorca.

Isco (hamstrings) and Nacho (thigh), Lucas Vázquez (calf) are recovering from their injuries and worked individually on the field in their last training sessions.

Luka Jovic is said to have quickly recovered from his injury, but he is still about two weeks from getting fit and will have to wait.

Casemiro picked up a yellow card in the game against Sociedad and will be suspended for this game.

Injuries: Sergio Ramos (blow), Nacho (thigh), Luka Jovic (fractured foot)

Doubtful: Lucas Vázquez (muscle strain)

Suspensions: Casemiro (yellow card accumulation)

Majorca
As for the visitors, defenders Lumor Agbenyenu and Leonardo Koutris are long-term absent, while midfielder Ki Sung-Yeung lacks fitness for the match and is a big doubt. Loan keeper Fabricio Agosto will also remain out of the question due to a foot injury.

Injuries: Lumor Agbenyenu (foot), Leonardo Koutris (ACL), Fabricio Agosto (foot)

Dubious: Ki Sung-Yeung (physical fit)

Suspensions: none
Real Madrid vs RCD Mallorca Prediction
Real Madrid has shown a calm and determined attitude since the return of LaLiga. They have found the back of the net with some level of ease, and the Hazard-Benzema partnership seems more dangerous with each passing day.

It would take nothing less than a miracle for Mallorca to record a victory against the team in the form of Real Madrid and we believe it will be another easy victory for the home team.

Final verdict: Real Madrid 3-0 RCD Mallorca
