" Valencia vs Levante: Predictions, lineups & live stream info

La Liga will continue the city derby theme on its second night back with Valencia welcoming Levante to Mestalla on Friday.

Los Che is seventh in La Liga with 42 points, and his challenge for the top four was impacted by their awful shape before the break. Albert Celades’s men have won only one of their last eight games in all competitions, losing five (including a humiliating 7-4 defeat to Atalanta in the Champions League).

Levante, meanwhile, has its own problems. They are currently 13th, nine points behind Valencia with 33 and have also had form problems, losing six of their previous nine games. They can stand up for almost any occasion – their last victory was against Real Madrid – but they strive for consistency. Their misfortunes in the local derbies count against them here (W7 D7 L19 in this “Derby del Turia”) but they will not fall without fighting.

Previous compositions from Valence and Levante:
Valencia (against Alaves): Cillessen; Wass, Gabriel, Diakhaby, Gaya; Kondogbia *; Florenzi, Soler, Parejo, Cheryshev; Gameiro.
Levante (against Granada): Aitor Fernandez; Miramon, Bruno, Ruben Vezo, Clerc; Campana, Vukcevic, Radoja, Bardhi; Morales, Roger.
Valencia will be without Geoffrey Kondogbia, suspended. Cristiano Piccini and Ezequiel Garay remain long-time absent from the club.

Players to watch:
Valencia: Kevin Gameiro

All eyes will likely be on Rodrigo’s return, but the real man to watch for this clash is Kevin Gameiro. The French striker can only have five La Liga goals this season, but his pace and instinctive finish make him a constant danger for any side. But for Levante in particular, Gameiro brings out the fireworks. The Frenchman scored more goals against los Granotas (six) than any other side of Sporting Gijon (seven). He likes them as an opponent and you can expect him to show it when the two sides meet.

Levante: José Luis Moralés

There is one man whom Levante will seek to lead to glory against Valencia and it is “El Comandante” José Luis Moralés. The club captain is a talismanic figure whose dribbling and daring talent made phenomenal giant killers from Levante, but has struggled to replicate his exploits of the past two seasons in 2019/20. He has only had two La Liga goals and only one since August, but this one gave them their most recent win, and it was against Real Madrid. If Levante wants to have a chance in this derby, it will be because Moralés has still delivered for his team.

Score Prediction: Valence 3-1 Levante
Valencia have beaten Levante in their last five home games against them and are undefeated in 13 against their rivals at Mestalla. This combined with the poor record outside Levante should give Los Che a good home victory.
