Manchester City and Lyon will meet in the semi-finals of the Champions League in Lisbon on Saturday evening.

Both clubs have already reached the quarter-finals and City is younger. At that time, Manuel Pellegrini's team was eliminated by the eventual Real Madrid winners. It turned out to be his last responsible European game when Pep Guardiola soon took the reins.

The two-time winner, both titles with the Barcelona of his childhood, has reached the quarter-finals in two of his three previous seasons. In both cases, they were eliminated by a Premier League rival (Liverpool and Tottenham).

As the only English team in the Champions League, they don't have to worry anymore, but all the pressure is on them as Lyon has nothing to lose and everything to win. The French team reached the semi-finals in 2010, where Bayern Munich humiliated them, and since then they haven't come close to repeating that feat. However, Rudi García's team are 90 minutes away from changing that.

Previous line-ups for Man City and Lyon:
Man City (versus Real Madrid): Ederson; Walker, Fernandinho, Laporte, Cancelo; Rodri, Gündogan, De Bruyne; Sterling, Foden, Jesus.
Lyon (v Juventus): Lopes; Marçal, Denayer *, Marcelo; Dubois, Aouar, Caqueret, Guimarães, Cornet *; Depay, Toko Ekambi.
Pep Guardiola is not worried about further injuries before his semi-final against Sergio Agüero is not on his team. Lyon meanwhile is sweating over the availability of Jason Denayer, Maxwell Cornet, and Kenny Tete.

Man City: If you want to make more history, City must find another virtuous achievement under its stars. The good news for coach Guardiola is that when one has a bad game, another takes a step forward. During the 2019/20 league campaign, Kevin De Bruyne seemed to be his point of contact, but this wasn't exactly the case in Europe. That honor apparently belonged to Gabriel Jesús, whose last goal against Real Madrid came in three consecutive Champions League games. For Sterling, his support in the game means he has now been involved in nine goals. That's more than any other City player in the competition this season.

Opta said a goal against Lyon would make Jesús the third player to score in three separate Champions League knockout games in a single campaign for City after Sergio Agüero and Raheem Sterling (both 2018/19).

Lyon: Very few expected Lyon to come that far, but the recent postponement of football accidentally helped Rudi Garcia, once again relying on his mercury Memphis Depay, and the Dutch striker stepped forward in Turin and scored that basic gate to which he could send The team. The team from Ligue 1 to the first semi-final of the Champions League for more than a decade. After suffering a serious knee injury in December 2019, Depay should no longer play this season.

Before that, he had 14 goals in 18 games and his goal against Juventus got him six goals this season, with Depay scoring one goal in every game Depay has played so far.
