Paraguay will host Peru at the Defensores del Chaco Stadium on Thursday in their first FIFA World Cup qualifying match.
Paraguay last played an international match almost a year ago, when they drew 0-0 against Saudi Arabia at the Principe Faisal bin Fahd Stadium in a friendly match. Both teams had five shots on goal but failed to find a breakthrough.
Peru, meanwhile, lost 1-0 to Colombia last year at Hard Rock Stadium in an international friendly match. A goal at the end of the second half from Rangers forwards Alfredo Morelos was enough to secure the victory for Carlos Queiroz's team.

Prediction Paraguay vs Peru
Paraguay coach Eduardo Berizzo has appointed a good squad. Much will depend on the creativity of Newcastle United midfielder Miguel Almiron, while forwards such as Dario Lezcano and Antonio Sanabria could play a key role.
Peru, on the other hand, will not have striker Paolo Guerrero, who is out injured. The likes of Andre Carrillo and Raúl Ruidiaz will have to be at their best, while Jefferson Farfán could be vital from the bench.
Peru did not enjoy the best of years last year, winning just one of its last five games. Paraguay could surpass them in this qualifier.
Prediction: Paraguay 1-0 Peru
