Liverpool could take a three-point lead at the top of the table by winning Saturday's early game

Having wrestled their way back to the top of the Premier League, could the coming weeks see Liverpool lay the hammer and overtake potential title rivals? Saturday's early game against Brighton and Hove Albion offer the perfect opportunity to add more momentum to their home campaign.

Wednesday's 2--0 defeat to Atalanta slowed Liverpool's lead somewhat, but if they repeat Sunday's bid against Leicester City at AMEX, it will be a huge challenge for Brighton to get anything from their match with the Champions.

Storylines

Liverpool: How will Jurgen Klopp's team react after their coach clarifies his feelings about Saturday's early game after Wednesday's game? The Liverpool manager bemoaned the British broadcasters Sky and BT for the demands they made from his team after their 3-0 win over Leicester, and although he said in his pre-match press conference that he would stop talking about the issue, the question is whether he is. He was already implicitly suggesting to his players that he never expected them to be at their best.

Brighton: It's such a heavy blow to Tariq Lamptey and Brighton that the suspension robbed the young defender another chance to prove his worth against a big team. It is truly strange that the right-back is the decisive cog in the attacking arsenal of any side at such a young age, but Lamptey is an exhilarating player close to the winger who was given permission to attack from the rear by Graham Potter. With Trent Alexander-Arnold also not available for Liverpool, the battle for right-back must wait.

prediction

Brighton has not beaten Liverpool since 1984, and with Jordan Henderson and Thiago potentially inflating Klopp's midfield options, there is no reason to believe Nawras will break their duck. Choose: Liverpool 2, Brighton 0.
